LYDIARD PARK ACADEMY
Potential into performance

Increased intake for September 2013 Confirmed

Lydiard Park Academy will be admitting an additional 20 Year 7 students in September 2013, making a total of 200 places. Prospective parents were advised of this likely change at our Open Evenings back in September and we are now able to confirm this. We are aware that there is very strong demand for places at LPA with an increased number of parents selecting LPA as their first choice. We intend to admit 200 pupils every year from now on, which we hope will enable us to balance increased demand, the potential space needed should our sixth form bid be approved, and our continued belief in the benefits of smaller class sizes.

Inaugural Melville Prize Winner

Lydiard Park Academy is committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their very best. Consequently, it is a great source of pride to the school to be able to record the outstanding achievements of former pupils on the new 'Melville Prize Award' board in our restyled main reception. The Melville Prize is named in recognition of the significant contribution made to the school over many years by a former governor and local councillor, Mrs Jean Melville, and is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall GCSE examination results.

The first winner of this award under our new name of Lydiard Park Academy is Michelle Chirimuuta. Michelle gained her outstanding GCSE results last summer (2012) - gaining 13 GCSE passes, 8 at A*grade and the remainder at A grade. We look forward to seeing the list of names grow over the coming years.
