Women in Engineering

LPA were given the opportunity to take a number of pupils from Year 10 for a Women in Engineering day at Wiltshire College and University Centre campus in Chippenham.

The girls had a “brilliant day” and a few of them are now very interested in going into a career in engineering.

Careers visit to UK Shared Business Services

Today, myself and a number of Year 11 pupils attended a careers based workshop at one of Swindon’s biggest ‘Apprentice’ employers. UK SBS employ over 600 people at their offices in North Star Swindon. They are consistently investing in new talent and were keen to showcase their apprenticeship offer to potential employees of the future. What made the morning even more special is that it had been arranged and organised by one of our ex-pupils, Tommy Fulton. Tommy left LPA last year and during his time at UK SBS has really developed a variety of commercial skills to such an extent that he took charge of the morning events. The pupils (and myself) had a really good, informative and interactive experience.

Careers In Media hosted by Fiona Scott Media Consultancy

Our 6th form Media pupils, including three Year 11 pupils were able to discuss all aspects of the ‘media’ with Fiona. The group discussion covered Careers in media, pathways to enter the sector and possible ways in which pupils should prepare themselves for the ‘digital media’ age.

We would like to thank Fiona for giving up some time to share her experiences with our pupils.
