Slam dunk! Wiltshire housebuilder supports LPA with £1,000 kit donation

A housebuilder in Wiltshire is helping a local school kick off the new season in style – with brand-new basketball jerseys for the whole team.

Barratt Bristol, currently building at Wichel Fields @ Wichelstowe, on Mill Lane, and Orchards View @ Wichelstowe, on Scott Way, has demonstrated its support for a grassroots basketball team by donating £1,000 to Lydiard Park Academy towards new basketball jerseys for the team.

The kits are a key resource for students taking part in team sports and school fixtures. As some students rely on the school to provide access to appropriate kits and resources, donations like this encourage children to stay fit and participate in extracurricular activities, no matter their background.

Barratt Bristol’s donation forms part of its initiative to positively impact the local area surrounding the developments, through donations that improve the quality of life for new and existing residents.

Ryan Embling, PE Teacher and Head of Year 7 at Lydiard Park Academy, said: "As a PE department, we are incredibly grateful for the kind and generous sponsorship from Barratt Bristol and feel extremely fortunate to be entering the new basketball season in style.

“Basketball is a sport that continues to grow at Lydiard Park Academy, and in recent years we have seen increasing success across all age groups. The new kits give our teams a professional look as we begin what we hope will be another succeesful basketball season.

“On behalf of the entire PE department and all of our basketball players, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Barratt Bristol for their valued support."

Andrew Spicer, Managing Director for Barratt Bristol, said: “Local schools developing the next generation of talent play an integral part of community life, so we are proud to be able to offer our support to Lydiard Park Academy as part of our commitment to creating new and thriving communities.

“Playing sport is a great way to improve physical and mental wellbeing, while bringing people together through a love of the game. Basketball is more than just a sport, it’s a space where young children are offered a fun and safe learning environment in which they are empowered to develop key life skills, from team building to communicating.
