25.03.21 Celebrating International Women’s Day and Women in Engineering at LPA To celebrate International Women's Day and Women in Engineering, our year 9 girls attended a virtual guest speaker presentation yesterday, Wednesday 24th March. The guest speaker was a lady who is an ESP Coordinator for Midas Group, a construction company based in Bristol. She talked through the career options within a male dominated industry and passionately spoke about how much she loves her job, as well as all of the skills and attributes you are able to gain as a female working in construction. Her aim was to encourage girls in year 9 to consider a future career in construction and engineering and to inform them of qualifications needed. It was great to see that a few girls who were unsure about going into construction before are now very much considering this as a career option. Midas Group offer young people apprenticeships and traineeships, which gives all young people a great opportunity when starting their career. A big thank you to Leighann at Midas Group and all staff who helped with the organisation and smooth running of the event. If any students (boys and girls!) are interested in pursuing a career in construction, please see the following weblinks for more information: Citb.co.uk Goconstruct.co.uk Swsharedapprenticeships.com Thank you, Mrs L.
