LGBTQ+ History Month in English

In English, we are working on developing our reading centred around cultural days and the month of Feb is LGBTQ+ history month! The theme this year is medicine and KS3 classes have been researching influential figures from the LGBTQ+ community who contributed to the field of medicine, science and healthcare, both historically and today.

Pupils researched influential figures such as Sally Ride, Sir Isaac Newton and Rachel Carson. Additionally, Miss Smith's Year 7 'Myths and Legends' group completed creative responses to the fated love story of Achilles and Patroclus, including stories, poems, pictures and board games!

By celebrating and telling stories of LGBTQ+ figures from history, we want to spread the message of inclusivity and remember that we are all valued and vital members of the LPA community and society ???‍??
