Ready, Steady, Cook Workshop

Last week our two year 10 Food Catering classes had the opportunity to meet Royal Navy chef's and take part in a workshop.

The interactive Master Chef style challenge was set, which teams of no more than 5 being presented with a box of ingredients for two dishes (Cornish Pasty and Sticky Toffee Pudding). The aim was to create the main dish and dessert within a set time frame of 90 minutes.

This popular activity is a great way to exercise pupils’ initiatives, teamwork, communication and time keeping skills.

Following the workshop challenge there was a presentation explaining the roles of the Catering Service Branch, career opportunities, service life, educational gains, sporting and social opportunities and a general insight into the career of Royal Navy personnel.

The staff who managed to visit during the school day had the opportunity to sample the delights cooked up.
