31.01.23 Restaurateurs Give Back To LPA Two local restaurateurs have given back to their old secondary school by providing sponsorship for a new football kit. The smart new kits were handed over to the year 9 boys team as an upgrade to a kit that had seen better days. Scott and Luke Jacobs, previous pupils of Lydiard Park Academy, co-own The Ridge at Shaw Ridge and Fiesta de Cuba at Greenbridge Retail Park. They were delighted to support the team and school by providing a full strip which the year 9 boys proudly modelled when it was handed over. Scott said “When we were approached about sponsoring our old schools football team we couldn’t refuse. Myself and Luke had some great memories at the school and are happy that we are in a position to support this sponsorship. We do all we can to support other local businesses, and schools should be no different”. Richard Jones, a curriculum leader at LPA organised the sponsorship deal with the brothers. He said “Having taught both brothers before they graduated in 2008, it is great to see their restaurant business going from strength to strength. We have stayed in contact over the years and they were all too happy to help out with sponsoring the team. It is always difficult to fund new team kits with budget constraints as they are in schools, so to secure support from local businesses is an alternative option. A business can then spread their name and show social responsibility all at the same time. We are always looking for new sponsors for our various team kits so any business can get in contact to discuss.” The year 9 football team found the new kit to be a lucky charm as they wore it for the first time and beat Lavington School 3 – 1 in the Wiltshire Cup.
